Sorry for being so tardy with my reply, but have been out of town for the last 2 weeks. If I remember correctly I recommended Fred Lipowitz in North Kansas City, MO. Fred's shop in the same building as Snap-Shots Gun Shop on Clay street. (816) 221-9117

Bill,We talked in August at Powder Creek about a shotgun gunsmith and you gave me a name. That afternoon I broke my leg and have forgotten (who knew the leg and brain are connected?) the guy's name. Can you tell me again - and maybe how to get in touch with him? Tnx

Not sure you remember me. We met when Joe Rosa went to Mendota for the unveiling of the Wild Bill Statue. My Great Grandfather, Harrison Hickok, was 2nd Cousin to Wild Bill. My Dad was told Harrison and James went to Kansas together. Harrison stayed there, James didn't like Kansas, so moved on. Hope to see you again someday. I do keep in touch daily with our Cousin Cynthia. Take care!

Didymus,

Sorry for being tardy with this reply but have been on the road and only recently returned home. The '51 Navies I used on The Outdoor Channel's "Cowboys" program are 2nd generation Colt Navies that have some minor engraving, round trigger guards and Ivory grips. The actions have been tuned by Bob Munden. If you wish to purchase a pair of Hickok style '51 Navies I recommend you contact Chris Ballard at Cimarron Firearms. Once upon a time Cimarron had several part of '51 Navies with Uberti factory laser engraving and faux ivory grips that were very affordable. If no longer available Chris will special order a pair with Hickok pattern hand engraving, real or "True Ivory" one piece grips. I recommend you replace the factory nipples with Treso nipples and have Bob Munden tune them up.

Thanks, Tame Bill. I shall indeed contact your references in obtaining such fine fashions. By the way, are your pistols replicas of Mr. Hickock's; if so, would you mind informing me where they can be purchased? I've seen several non-firing replicas and others wherein the cylinders were gold plated, but nothing resembling Hickock's precisely. Thanks for taking your time to respond. I've only recently become interested in CAS and my wife is "considering" participation. We have done pre-1840 and Colonial Reenactments since 1982 and we're looking for a change in pace.

Didymus,

Katherine J. Bryant did the costuming for Mr. Carradine as the character of Wild Bill on the HBO show Deadwood. Much of my period correct attire comes from River Junction Trading Company and Quartermaster Shop. My low crowned/large brim hats are no longer available and I am looking for new source to make a couple extras. My shooting footwear is made by Buffalo Runner and the dress boots are custom made by Champion Attitude Boots.

Your "Hickock" regalia is absolutely incredible. Would you inform me where you get such attire? Additionally, do you know where Keith Carradine obtained his "Hickock" outifit from the HBO "Deadwood"??

Thanks foe another great video! Nice shooting. Do you use BP or subs and brass shotgun shells? I also have the two Richards Mason conversions , 5 1/2 brl, .38 sp. I'll try to get Bob Munden to tune them for me. Haven't decided on a rig yet. Thinking about 2 slim Jims with a Civil War belt.

Thanks for the great info and other stuff! Mad Dog McGee

Howdy Bill, I was just surfing for info on the Grand Army of the Frontier and found your site. Great site! The TG wire made a reference to GAF & I had to see what it was. In case you're wondering, we met at the TG Summit, '05-'06; I've now skipped the last 3. Here's a thought for you. The SASS Vermont State Championship is May 28-30. This will be the first time we hold it in VT, it's been combined with the NH shoot in past years. If that's not a good excuse for a trip to the home ground I don't know what is! :D Doc McCoy Richmond, VT TG, Verdant Mountain Vigilantes

I really like it . Going to try to shoot some rounds with APP or Goex 3F . What kind of action job does Bob do on the gun? Thanks for a great website and all your help! Mad Dog McGee

Great web site Tame Bill !! You started my wife thinking that perhaps "we" should take up SASS shooting - until - she spyed the "Aces & Eights" hat that cost $675! You heard me tell her in Troy Grove that this could get costly... I told her I need at least two hats. Pardner has got to have a back up... Now, I'm a bowling pin/steel plate guy. No more USPSA for me. Those USPSA people don't like revolvers! But, this stuff is lookin real interesting! MORE Videos Please!!! I love the sound of "Bang Clang. And those shotgun reloads - WOW! I tried doing that with my Benelli and the shells were already on the ground. You're goin'to have a sit down with me and explain the rules of this darn game. Mmmmm, Ya'll will have to help me pick out a name. It was a pleasure meeting you at the family event! Warmest Regards and I'll be talking to you, Rob Dawn
